Gain an insight into the broad and rich history of music. Embark on a voyage of discovery through time and experience exciting developments in the history of music.
It’s up to you whether you start at Rockheim – the national museum of popular music – or Ringve, which is a national museum of music and musical instruments.
Rockheim is a modern museum that conveys history and music through experiences to please both the ear and eye. Stroll at your leisure from decade to decade, from the growing youth culture of the ‘50s through to the digital diversity of the present day. Selected artists and trends are presented for each decade.
Ringve has a wonderful collection of musical instruments and artefacts of historical interest, musicals and original manuscripts. You will also gain an insight into the classicism period through the exhibition Time with the Countess – the Music and People in Trondhjem 1740 – 1815.
The two museums are linked by bus no. 3 – check the timetable at atb.no. It’s also possible to walk or ride a bike.
